White text on dark red
Impact: low
We’ve received feedback that reading black text on the dark red background is quite difficult. As such, when a row is selected and the background is dark red, the text is now white.
Email address is now hyperlinked
Impact: low
The email address in the customer overview area is now a hyperlink. Click on the email address and it'll open an email window with the email address populated.
Prompt to save changes
Impact: low
Currently, if you forget to save your changes on a page before exiting, your changes are lost. We’ve now added a prompt so that if you forget to save your changes before exiting a page, you’ll be prompted to save your changes.
Customer Activity Screen and Activity Dashboard screen
Impact: low
Currently, both the customer activity screen and activity dashboard have the same set of information displayed. We’ve enhanced this so that:
- - For the dashboard view, we’ve removed the closed by, duration, parent and source and added account balance, phone number and Sales Customer Number.
- - For the Customer Activity screen, we’ve removed the customer number, customer name, source and parent.
Upgraded Invoice Printing Plug-in
Impact: high
In the background, Utilmate uses a plugin called Select PDF to generate invoice PDF’s. However, we've found that this hasn’t scaled well and changing invoice designs tricky. As a result, we’ve progressively been upgrading clients to our new PDF generation plug in – JS Report. This has allowed us to:
- - auto-scale when needed and generally much faster
- - it is separate to other processes so large invoice runs or lots of invoice previews taking place, not impact other system resources
- - invoice reversals to be printed
- - easier and quicker for us to make invoice design changes
We’ve converted a number of clients over already and will be in touch to find a suitable time to upgrade to those we haven’t upgraded yet.
Aged Trial Balance Report

We’ve added three useful fields to this report:
- 1. Bond paid (Y/N)
- 2. Last Treatment date
- 3. Last Treatment Description
Bulk Email and SMS
Impact: low
We’ve added a feature to allow you to send bulk SMS or email messages to everyone in a building. You can access this wizard (Button) from the Maintenance menu, Letters, Emails and SMS Screen.
Step One
Select the message type - emails or SMS.
Step Two
If it is an SMS, select the building(s) you’d like to send the SMS to, whether you’d like to send one per customer (in the event a customer has multiple accounts) and if you’d like to only send it to life support customers (for outages). Enter your message and press finish.
Step Three
If it is an Email, select the building(s) you’d like to send the email to. Enter the subject and message. If you’d like an attachment sent, this must be saved in the Templates\Attachments folder. Just enter the file name. The email will be sent using the “FreeFormTemplate.html” email template.
Sending an individual SMS
Impact: low
A new wizard (button) has been added to the Notifications -> SMS Messages screen to allow users to instantly send an SMS to a customer. Eg
“Just tried to reach you, please call us back on XXXX”
“Just a reminder you power is due for disconnection today”
“Thanks for being our customer”
